grumpy

I know, I know. I haven't posted anything for ages. I have been BUSY though what with one thing and ANOTHER. I'm currently part way through a JOB for a client which is taking up all my time and the blog has had to be put on the BACK BURNER temporarily but I'll TRY and do something new. OKAY?!?

serge gainsbourg pt.2

...and here's the design as it might look on an actual, honest-to-goodness packet of fags.

serge gainsbourg

Illustrator Jonathan Edwards has a new(ish) blog dedicated to Gitane-powered, wine-fuelled chanteur of chansons du sex*, Serge Gainsbourg which you can peruse at:

He (Jonathan Edwards that is, NOT Serge Gainsbourg – he's been dead this past few years) recently posted my own contribution which can be seen above...

the eyes have it

I've uploaded a couple of spreads from a personal project I've been working – a book about actors with distinctive eyes. Check out the pages at:

rock'n'roll portraits

...and here's the complete set. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the results, though I think one or two of the images need to be recoloured. The pastel shades I used in the background were slowly abandoned for more vivid colours and some of the early portraits I made don't look so good alongside the more recent drawings. I'm thinking about getting them printed up as larger individual prints or as a set of postcards, each with a short biography on the back. I've also made a series of full-figure drawings of some of the people depicted above but I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with them yet. It may be that these are formatted in a similar way to the soul stars I drew last year

but we'll see. Click on the image to get a better view. Any comments would be much appreciated.
